HISTORIAN, PRESERVE ORANGE COUNTY
Q: Where were you born?
A: I was born in downtown Los Angeles. I've been a proud Santa Ana resident since 1987.
Q: What inspired you to become a historian?
A: My inspiration to become a historian began in my childhood. One summer in Pasadena, I spent my afternoons exploring an abandoned Victorian home filled with old magazines and books. Immersed in its architecture and history, I became fascinated with local history and preserving old buildings. My grandfather, an architect I admired deeply, also influenced my passion. Although I eventually pursued a career in real estate, this early experience sparked my enduring love for history and preservation.
Q: What is something most people don’t know about you?
A: Something most people don’t know about me is that I live in a historic home built in 1926 for the Yost family. Ed Yost, renowned for owning several theaters in Orange County, including the iconic Yost Theater in downtown Santa Ana, commissioned this house for his family. The Yost Theater, located on the Paseo between Third and Fourth Streets, is the oldest theater in the county and remains a cherished landmark. With my home nearing its 100th anniversary, I feel a deep connection to local history and am proud to be part of it
